    Either direction will do this, as long as a very slow speed is used.

    I need to correct myself. Most fan manufacturers recommend clockwise in the winter. Sorry for my misreading your question

    In the winter the rotation should be so that the blade runs with the angle of the blade pushing up and reverse in the summer.
