    Shocking light switches through out house
    I get an electrical shock when touching a several light-switches through out the home when turning it on or off in my 2004 build home just purchased. Any idea why? It happens more when cold then when its warm outside. Is there any fix for it? Thanks for answering...

    Are you sure you are not talking about static electricity? Comes from friction between synthetic rug fibers and shoes. Switch handles are non conductive so you won't get a system electric shock. You "cold" comment is a typical note since humidity is low. Check rooms without carpet and let us know. Test the rug rooms in the dark and let us know if you see a spark jump.

    I also think that it's static, likely from rubbing feet on carpet. See if the screws on switch coverplates are painted, not bare metal.

    There are products to reduce static in carpet, or you can touch the stove and get shocked there instead ;)
