    No Water in toilet bowl
I have been away for 5 weeks and now found all 4 toilets upstairs and downstairs have no water at all in bowl? It has been warm but not a drought. Now I have flushed them all there is a suddenly bad smell through the house.
    Thanks for your help

When you flush do any of the toilets gurgle or burp a bubble? Any other details? Back to you, Tom

    Hi Kodak

If the toilet bowls were all dried up due to evaporation then as soon as you flushed a toilet it disturbed the gasses in the sewer and sent them into the home. My guess here is that once all toilet bowls are filled again (that and all sinks/showers/other drains in the house) the smell will go away for good.

In the future, when you go away for extended periods of time you may want to pour some mineral oil in the toilets to keep them from drying out to begin with...;)

PS: Shutting the water main off is also good insurance on long away trips!
