Would extra return vents help my home?
Hello, I would like to get an answer with dilemma I currently have.
We have a single unit outside with the thermostat and main return vent downstairs with no returns upstairs where all the rooms are. Two of my rooms, which are above the garage will never get enough cold or hot air inside of them. So I was thinking of installing an additional air return vents above the each door of the rooms in order to get the circulation of the air better, since the air which is coming from the unit doesn't go anywhere since there is no returns. Please tell me if it is a good idea! Thank you and looking forward to your replies! |

I have 2 return air vents, 1 on the floor that will open and close and on about 4 inches from celing. The bottom vent should be open or closed fro heating? Thanks for your help
Does this also apply to the 90% efficiency models that are vented vertically to the outside of the house? We just had one installed. Brand is Rheem. Should the return then be blocked off in heating months and opened for a/c, even with the newer models?
Why is it not advisable to have a return air vent in the same room as the furnace? And does this also apply when using the air conditioner?
