I am sorry for your loss. Do you know if your daughter was positive or negative?

In the end, positive or negative, no one can guarantee a healthy outcome. There are many factors that come into play, rhesus is just one of them.

The problem with the Rh factor has largely been eliminated at least in most Western cultures. Most OB/Gyns test for the factor during pregnancy and are prepared for issues during birth. If there is a problem with the Rh factor, it shows up at birth and is unlikely to be an issue 6 months later.

A mother who is Rh negative who has been pregnant before risks erythroblastosis fetalis if the lost fetus, or born child, is Rh positive. Meaning that the mother's body will recognize the fetus as an infection and fight to destroy the fetus. Many times this ends in miscarriage or, if the fetus is delivered, hemolytic disease of the newborn. This is why it is important for a Rh negative woman to know if she has ever been pregnant and miscarried, as well as knowing the blood types of her children once born.

This day in age a Rh negative mother will be given a Rhogam shot within 72 hours after delivery of a baby if the baby is Rh positive. She will also be given a Rhogam shot at approximately 28 weeks gestation when pregnant.
