    Gurgling drains and overflowing toilet
I live in an apartment on the first floor, and for the past few days, my pipes have been gurgling whenever I or someone else above me uses water. And yesterday my toilet overflowed when I flushed it with nothing to clog it up. This is continuing, but I can get it to flush if I hold the flapper up.
    What could be the problem?

You need to contact the landlord before the MAIN DRAIN totally clogs up and your place gets flooded with raw sewage. Here, if the main drain becomes totally blocked, especially when you aren't home, you could end up walking into a POOL of sewage!! Your landlord (and you) will appreciate a heads up here!

    Good luck!

Double trouble! You have a blocked vent and a partial blockage in the toilet drain line. The solution would be to snake the vent from the roof and then pull the toilet and snake the main drain. When you snake from the love put out enough snake to reach the base and 15 feet more. Good luck, Tom

I've recently bought a house that is about 20 years old. Within a week of moving in, I've found if too much water is going through the system (ie after I've showered, done the dishes, and a load of laundry), all drains (including floor drains) start overflowing. I've tried plunging, but it doesn't...

Gurgling drains and toilet [ 2 Answers ]

Drains and toilet gurgle during the night, when it's cold. Air bubles come up the toilet and then it actually drains itself, like the water is sucked out. Then it stops. Is this a sign of a future problem, what's happening? Only happens in the middle of the night around 3 am.

Toilet overflowing when washer drains [ 2 Answers ]

My downstairs toilet overflowed when my washing machine drained. This happened once before and the plumber pulled debris from the clean out pipe located outside the house. I opened up the clean out plug and have pulled some debris out. There is still water in the pipe. When I plunge it, the...
