When we run the water through the drain in one of our bathrooms, the drain pipe makes a clicking/dripping sound. It is not the incoming water pipe since the noise is only present when the water is draining. There is no leak. We don't see any water in any of the walls. How does one figure out where the noise is coming from?

Look under sink, do you by any chance have an in line vent on that drain?

Yes possible, pipes transmit sound very well.

Sorry, not an answer, but I have the same tick from my daughters shower drain from upstairs as it goes down to the basement. Our family room wall downstairs clicks when draining. I'm interested in this answer as well. Thanks!

Hot or cold? What kind of pipe? Another possible cause of "ticking" could be pipe expansion and contraction causing rubbing against a structural member.

I would go with plastic pipe expansion, particularly with how water draining into the pipe. See if you don't hear it with cold water.
