    97 civic will not start
I have a 97 civic ex manual trans that will crank but not start. I have done all the tests that TXGREASEMONKEY has answered for other users.(excellent help!) CEL goes out after 2 seconds(does not come on again). Fuel pump hums, relay clicks. Tested spark on all four plugs. OK. Checked MAP, 4.9 volts at + and ground(K-Test). Checked voltage to ICM, 12.8. Installed new fuel filter and checked preasure. OK. All fuses good. Should I replace the ICM? If no good should I then go for the ECM? Please help!

    Good job so far.

. Did you check for codes?
    . Clean main ECM ground.
. Have AutoZone check ICM and coil for free.

    Thanks for response.

Checked codes with reader. No codes.
Not sure where main ECM ground is.
    I'll try Autozone.

    Thanks

Main ECM ground is on the thermostat housing--look for 3 wires going into a brass connector.

I took the ICM to my AutoZone. They just got their new tester last week and it tested bad! Ran the test twice to confirm. New ICM was $110, installed and started right up.
I cannot thank you enough for your help. All your postings and responses are great!

    Thanks again,

Make sure to coat the back of the new ICM with silicone grease or it won't last long.

I have a 96 honda civic. I hit a couple of big rocks and my oil light came on. So I checked for loss of oil and there is none. So I drove for about mile and the car shut off and now it woun't start. What do you think the problem is.
