Can personal grooming products cause a failed EtG test?
I have been doing the EtG testing just recently this is new to me. I have not drank alcohol for three years!! I cam up positive for alcohol. I was sooooo upset I just got out of prison for dui. Since getting out I have used loreal sublime bronzer sunless tanner everyday as well as perfume, hairspray, handsanitzers, body spray, hair shine, all containing alcohol. Even my loreal conditioner has alcohol. I say the paper and it said I came up positive for ethyl alcohol. I promised my parole officer I have not drank. She believed me but the point being is that I am a female and something had to have made me test positive. I also have metabolism problems with low low potassium and I take a lot of viatimins the gummy ones... I put the sunless tanner on everyday and I looked at the ingredients and the second ingredient is alcohol denat? And I have Giorgio Armani roll on perfume that I use everyday as well as Victoria secret body spray. And I style my hair everyday with hairspray shine spray and thermal spray! Help can any of these products have made me come up positive.. I am freaking out because I have not drank alcohol at all and this is so scary I never ever want to go back to prison... I committed a crime however I wasn't driving when I got the dui I was still convicted... I will never do anything to jeopardize my freedom again especially drink... what should I do?

Make a list of the products that contain alcohol, and all your meds and give them to the parole officer. Then change the products (no alcohol content) you use and see if you can pass the next test. Seems your PO took that into consideration and didn't violate you, so prove your theory for the record, and verify your honesty.

How long is your probation, and when is your next test?

If you review the papers you signed when you got out, you were to avoid alcohol products of all kinds... not just the kind you ingest.

As you see... a test fail is a test fail... they don't care what the source was.

And also remember they have seen so many people lie about it (most do) they automatically assume everyone is. And they have good reason.

Its upon you to find and use only those products that contain no alcohol... they exists... you just have to find them.

Tying to find excuses to give them will only make it look to them like you are trying to hide actual consumption even if you weren't.

As I said... you can thank all those that came before you for that.

And as I said... as will be in the papers... restriction isn't limited only to drinking but all forms of use.

I see a lot of questions about EtG but never any follow up. So, has anyone ever taken an EtG test and failed when they thought they were in the clear of the 80 hours. My last drink would be 96 hours prior to the test, but I have heard that they can detect up to 5 days??
