I am 19 year old female, and I was diagnosed with a middle ear infection on Monday 1/13. I began taking amoxicillin starting that morning taking 2 capsules by mouth twice a day as directed. Each capsule is 500mg so by the end of each day I have had 2000mg. Am I overdosing?

Why would it be overdosing if you are following directions? Some people need more amoxicillin then others. This particular antibiotic doesn't work for me. That is a thousand each time, so yes 2 at the end of the day. Are you following the script exactly?

Please tell us the exact wording on the bottle.
Two x 500 mg x two times a day is a little bit high.
It's not an overdose, but you need to take it correctly.

Amoxicillin is weight based. The amount will be different for different weights.

As a nurse, that dosage is very common.
