    Craftsman 13 hp briggs and stratton motor snowblower won't start
    Fresh ga s good spark primer works I use electric starter it turns over but all I get is a big backfire took carb apart it was clean this machine has no throttle it is always full when it was running

    Hi,
    A backfire generally leads one to suspect the timing (intake valve open when the spark plug fires) and thus I would suspect the flywheel key.

    The Flywheel is held in place by a short square piece of metal called a pin or key. If this key is missing, the flywheel though on the shaft will be able to twist on the shaft and thereby change the timing and cause the backfiring.

    Hi,
    Yes, it is behind the recoil starter; it is in fact the part that the recoil engages directly or indirectly. The ring gear attached to it is also what the electric starter engages. You will need tools necessary to remove the recoil, and then the flywheel.
    It seems to me that if you must ask these questions, then you have not the knowledge/skills or tools to accomplish the task.
