    Bank Negligence
I have been with the same bank for over 10 years now. Last week I received a phone call from my car insurance company stating they were not able to withdraw funds from my account for my monthly payment, which is unusual. So I went online to my bank account to investigate further. I noticed that a $100 payment was withdrawn to pay for a DirectTv bill, which I am not a customer of theirs. This resulted in my bank account not having enough for the insurance payment. I called the bank and explained what I found and wasn't told very much. All I found out was that they had double booked the same bank account number as mine with a new customer. She had full access to all my funds and they had not caught it in their system. So the bank manager put a stop hold on that account and promised my money would be returned to me within 24 hours. This caused a problem with my insurance company and I had to get proof that it was a bank error and make many, many phone calls to fix this. It took forever and was an absolute waste of my time. I felt like the bank should have fixed that on my behalf. I am still receiving late payment notices from my insurance company even though they say its fixed in their system. I guess, I am just very aggravated that account numbers were so easily messed up and now I don't feel like my information is secure there. Does anyone suggest any action?

Change banks if you are that concerned. When they hear you will change, they may try to be a bit more forthcoming. However, it does not appear you maintain much of a balance so they may not be too concerned.
