    What model and year would help. Is this a brand new unit or did it work last year just fine?

    Hi,
    Could it be that is simply telling you that it is powered up, or might it have a back-up alarm on the machine that is misadjuste or simply in reverse.

I have an old central unit, about 20 y.o. The fan that blows air into the house makes a humming noise and is slow to start in between cycles. Could this be the relay or most likely the motor? Could cleaning the motor make a difference? It does not stop once gets started and cools the house OK.
