No water new pressure switch will not kick on
I lost water in my house today and I replaced the pressure switch with a square d 30/50 switch. Now the switch isn't doing anything and I still don't have water. Could it be low pressure is too low and not kicking in the switch?

    Hi Mk17212

Do you have an electrical tester? If you do, test for power getting to the new pressure switch. If there is no power getting to the switch, check for power back at the electrical panel.

    Start there...

Are the switch contacts open or closed? If open, flip the arm to close them. If closed and you have power on both sides of the switch , you may have a bad pump or broken pump wire.

If the points are not closed, then something is wrong with the switch. If the points are closed, then the switch is doing it's job. You would then need to use your voltmeter to see if you are getting current on the lines going TO the pump. If the points are closed, you should be able to bridge the black and white going to the pump with your meter and get 220 volts. If you do, then the problem is "downstream" of the switch. Is your pump above ground or in the well?

If your switch has a reset lever (probably doesn't), then make sure you have reset the switch.

Make sure the little pipe leading to the switch is clear. They can sometimes clog and make the switch not work properly.

If you lost water and replaced the switch, then signs tend to point to the pump.
