Labman, for not being an appliance tech, you are right on the money with your suggestions. I totally agree with you about the newer electronic controls on all appliances instead of the mechanical timers and switches. I got into the appliance business in 1970 and can honestly say that the industry has made it more complicated and more repair prone the newer the appliances have gotten. Now they put on so many more electronic parts and boards that in the past were handled by a simple electro-mechanical switch. Does it get the clothes cleaner? Does it dry them faster? Does an oven cook better? NO, no and no! But it costs the consumer a lot more money for repairs now!
