Ray is over the age they say dachahund can get a bad back. Ray is 8 yrs old. They say he needs surgey, but I don't have the money but he can live on pain pill from the vet. The pill help him fill good. The vet says as long he has a good life, he can live on piin meds, I have to watch what he does no jump, no stairs , so I carry he up and down the stairs and help him up on the chairs so he can be with me.I wish there was more I can do for him. He not a dog he is my baby.

What type of help are you looking for? We may be able to suggest alternative therapy methods but we cannot help with monetary needs.

Is he in good health (not over-weight, for example) other than his back issues? What has the vet said is wrong with his back?

I was wondering about his weight as well. Our dauchshund will eat anything she can get ahold of, and they do tend to get overweight. We had to keep her from jumping up on the things she loves to until she'd recovered from a minor back injury (she liked to use chairs to get all the way up to our bed, then jump down to the floor from that height - so that had to stop for a month, etc.) Crate yours if he's still recovering, that may speed the process along. Best of luck to you.

Sadly this is a common issue with dachshunds. They're a long backed dog, and as such are prone to back issues. There is no age limit that this can happen.

What sort of surgery is the vet recommending? What exactly is the diagnosis? Also, what is your actual question?
