Bad smell coming out from nose
Hi! I have this problem for two months now. I observe that when I'm around people, they touch their noses, so I deduced that bad smell is coming out of my nose. I have a bad breath, but I don't inhale with my mouth. I noticed that one part of my nose is clogged while the other is normal. My throat is also dry and there is phlegm in it (sometimes I swallow it). I went to the doctor and he said that I have sinusitis so he recommended me an antibiotic and Phenylephrine HCl + Chlorphenamine Maleate + Paracetamol. For three days of taking these, I noticed that the same situation still occurs (people touching their noses), and the symptoms are still there. What should I do? BTW I'm still taking the medicines (the doctor prescribed this for 7 days).. Thank you so much for the response...

Keep taking your meds for the entire time that you were told.
People touch their noses all the time -- wipe off a hair or a strand of hair or a fuzzy or scratch an itch. Watch them when they aren't near you -- nose touching constantly. They do it here in Chicago too and you aren't even around.
Feel better soon!

If u HV sinusitis, I can you give you a good acupressure therapy. Every day after waking and before sleeping, you can do this. Hold your index finger on the upper half by the thumb and index finger of the other hand. Press and release it gently at an interval of 1 sec for a minute. Do this for index and middle finger of both hands. You also should do this at the place between your middle and ring finger of both hands. Do it for some days and enjoy your health. But as wonder girl says, do not leave taking medicines.

Is there some research behind this? Pressing bits of your hand that have a antibacterial effect? I am curious to see this! It could revolutionize medicine!
Also, spell out your words completely. IE, You and not 'u' or have and not 'hv'. Chat speak and the like aren't tolerated mainly because this is an international site and many people whose primary language isn't english frequent here. Using such language will confuse and muddy the process here.

It's Ayurvedic medicine, similar to Japan's shiatsu (acupressure). Acupuncture is another form. It's all called alternative medicine (Eastern) as opposed to conventional medicine (Western).

I read up on it over my lunch. It sounds like it is good for muscle/bone problems. I understand how that could work. I have had many friends sing praises for what acupuncture did for them.
I haven't seen how it can be used to treat infections or heart burn. Just from a physiological side of things. The body is a complex interconnected machine, but that is just a little out there. Like tightening or losing a bolt on a tire to stop a radiator leak on a car.
I am baffled. I cannot recommend that when it could lead to serious complications.

Bad smell can indeed come from old mucus. Drink lots of warm fluids like soups so your mucus is more runny. Sinuses can indeed get bacterial infections, if the virus infection clogs them up long enough.
And the smell can come out your mouth or nose, and there is no way to breathe to get around it.
Another cause of smell, of course, is teeth and gums.
Someone once pressed on each side of my sternum right under the clavicles and my stuffed up nose instantly disappeared. About 5 minutes later, it was back. If you can figure out how to do that on yourself (I can't) feel free.

My baby brother (was in his 30s at the time) had sinus problems, went to doctors who gave him various treatments and meds, but none helped. Phil finally went to an highly-recommended acupuncturist who gave him three treatments, one a week. On his way home after the third one, he said that in his stuffed up head, it felt like someone had loosened the clog in a drain.
Of course, one has to be very careful and do research and be his own best advocate when it comes to any kind of medical intervention or treatment.

To all readers, I would like to apologise for using short forms. I would like to say that HV stands doe have and u stands for you. I promise to avoid such things from now and onwards.
The op has said that he has been suffer ring from this disease for two months. I deduced that this could be cause of inability of an organ like lungs. If the op finds no effects which is highly unlikely (as the books claim) then there is nothing acupressure can do. Because it can only deal with organ or gland inability. But if some correctly, the op is sure to get benefit. And there is no absolutely NO side effects of acupressure. If done in a wrong way or there has wrong diagnosis, it will not work meaning that it will keep you as you were. So never fear and keep doing acupressure.
And joypulv, perhaps this is a part of acupressure. Because I have read that there are many acupressure points on our body. We only use hands and feet because they are easy to find.
