I am 21 years old. My boyfriend and I have been together for over 3 years and he is 23. We were both Virgins and we went out of town with friends to celebrate my 21st and during which we both decided it's a perfect time to have sex for the first time as we were both in love, old enough and waited for so long already.

A bit if background, I have had hypothyroid but take medicine and I am normal now but continue to take medicine every morning. Because of my condition and for whatever in general I have always had irregular periods. I first got my first period when I was 10 years old and it has been irregular since. My doctor recommended birth control but as I was younger and I'm an only child who has protective parents, my mom said it wasn't necessary and my doctor said it wasn't necessary either. My mom said hers used to be irregular too.

So coming back, my boyfriend works currently in a different state and I only see him once a month and this is only a temporary work situation. So since my birthday in August, we only have had sex the times he's been here. So around 5-6 times.

It's been 4-5 months since I've had my period but this is not out of the ordinary and has happened before where I haven't had it for months and then have it again. But last weekend when my boyfriend came we've had sex again a couple times and I've been having cramps, much like menstrual cramps and I was thinking I'm about to get my period but I haven't had it yet. I've been cramping, sometimes pretty painfully like period cramps for a few days now but no period. The last weekend is the most we've ever had sex. Does this have any reason to why I'm cramping and might get my period now? And why haven't I gotten my period yet but only cramps? I keep stressing and thinking maybe I'm pregnant cause I'm new to all this and I'm scared and I've read that only delays Ur period. Idk what to do or calm down. I need some advice and help.

We've always been safe, used condoms every time and he even pulls out before he busts. So there's no way right? Practically speaking?

I've been religious and have always had a close relationship with parents who were very strict. It's all hitting me and I'm feeling guilty I didn't wait till marriage and all and everythibg is hitting me at once just now, after months. Could that also have anything to do with it?

Go to the drug store alone where no one knows you and get a home pregnancy test. Use said test.

As you said it isn't out of the ordinary to have irregular periods and this situation as well. What you've done with the condom and pull out reduces the chances significantly. There is still a small chance, but I am not sure it is anything you have to worry about at this point.

Having odd and irregular periods also means odd and irregular PMS symptoms. I use PMS in the broadest terms, meaning cramps and the like.

First piece of advice is to calm down. Second piece is the pregnancy test. You're doing most things right. Now that you're 21 I would investigate birthcontrol.
