I was wondering why the abs symbol on my dash is staying on..

There is something wrong with the braking system. That is what the ABS symbol represents.

If you attach an ABS code reader, the problem could be any number of things:

. Low brake fluid level--add only ABS approved fluid, such as Valvoline. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years.

. Dirty or bad sensor (clean with a rag and WD-40). Remove sensor on each wheel, using a Torx E8 socket.

. Faulty sensor wire or connector.

. Dirty tone ring--wash with a hose.

. Faulty modulator--requires professional repair. Not changing the fluid regularly can lead to corrosion and dirt in the modulator and internal reservoir. Repairs can be steep.
