Fan not working - only light.
We purchased 2 Hampton Bay ceiling fans without chains (only remote controlled) about 9 months ago. My husband installed both and we have had no problems until now.

The fan on one of the units suddenly quit working. The light works fine, but not the fan. I reprogrammed the other remote to see if it will operate this fan, but it will only operate the light as the other remote did - no fan. My husband said he could hear the fan motor when he got close to listen. How can we figure out what is causing this problem? More importantly, how can we fix this?

    Thanks

If the fans are identical, see if the remote for the working fan will start the fan.

Make sure that the DIP switches on the remote match the receiver's switches. Also, spin the fan blades and then start the fan, If the blades continue spinning then the motor's capacitor is shot and needs to be replaced.
