    Heat
Ok I have a heating question. I installed a honeywell rthl2410c series thermostat and Im not sure its working right. The a/c system seemed to work fine. Now that we have used the heat a few times I noticed the ""Aux" indicator was on a lot and its sucking the heck out of my electricity. The heat would kick on, the outside unit would come on and heat pretty quickly. I looked at the manual and decided to change the function setting from heat pump w aux/backup heat to just heating and cooling (w/o aux heat). Now I notice the heat is working, seems working fine, but the outside fan is not blowing while the heat is on. Is this bad or dangerous? Why is the heat on but the outside air handler not?

If you changed the thermostat configuration from 'heat pump w/aux heat' to simply 'heat and cool', the thermostat is closing the r-w circuit thus causing the air handler to run on second stage heat only. Second stage heat is electric in the air handler & possibly shutting the outdoor unit down as if the stat were set for emergency heat.

    I couldn't find a manual RTHL 2410 series stat on Honeywell's site.
