Allen & Roth Ceiling Fan Replacement Motor
In July 2011, I purchased several Allen & Roth 52" stylist roman bronze 5SY52RBD-L ceiling fans from Lowe's, but that model is unfortunately no longer available. The electric fan motor has stopped working (is it the capacitor instead? If so, how do I determine this?), but I cannot find a replacement motor for it.

I have searched the internet, but no luck... where do I find this? Do all Allen & Roth 52” fans use the same motor? If so, I will just go buy a different model and use the fan motor.

Are Harbor Breeze motors the same?

    Thanks for your help.

Motors are probably the same but may have different enclosures.

When you say "enclosures," are you referring to the cowl, etc. that is seen in the room? I removed the electric motor and mounting bracket... I am just hoping that if I go into Lowe's and find a different 52" model for Allen & Roth that the motor and bracket will fit my cowel/enclosure.

What about he capacitor? How do you diagnose a bad capacitor?

A test for a bad capacitor is to spin the fan blades and turn the fan on. If the motor takes over, then the cap is bad.

You use a multti meter. Best to use an older needle type. Find the 2 wires or clips on the capacitor and, with power off, short the wires together. Then, set the Multi meter to the lowest Ohm setting and put.the probes across the cap terminals. A good cap will cause the needle to jump and then slowly come back down. A bad cap will peg the needle and keep it high. By enclosure. I meant the motor housing that holds the armature. The internal components may be the same but that housing may br different. Good luck and let us know.what you find..
