I manufacture engines and take the old unit as trade, how do I value for inventory?
I manufacture engines used and rebuilt. When I sell an engine I take the old one in trade for a slight discount. How do I value the trade for inventory when it can either be rebuilt or used for parts. The effects my cost of goods purchased and ultimately creates a greater margin and greater profit.
