I have boxer mix and lately he pees in the house.

He has always been a GREAT dog.. I got him from the pound when he was 2 months old. And he probably only had 5 accidents while potty training him until now. He is the sweetest, non aggressive dog ever. Literally he wouldn't hurt a fly. Hes great with other dog and great with kids. He has always been around both.

He is super attached to me and my boyfriend. We give him lots of attention.

We moved in a new apt 5 months ago and this is when it started. He acted very anxious and took him awhile to adjust to the move but finally did and stopped peeing in the apt. He did chew up a corner of a wall during all this so we got a crate for when were not there. He has always hated it. He kept breaking out of it for awhile. He hasn't done that in awhile but the last month he has peed in it with and without blankets. We take him to use the bathroom 3-4 times a day and the longest he's in his crate is 8 hours while were both at work and that's not everyday. He is a 70 pound dog and can def. hold it till we get home and we take him out right away

The other day we took him out first thing we woke up. He peed when we came back up he went a peed in the middle of the living room we Yelled no and put him in his crate so that we could clean It up, we let him back out and he peed right in front of us AGAIN. I couldn't believe it.

Today we had to run by the store. We had taken him out to pee, which he did and crated him for 1 hour, we got home and there was pee outside of his crate on the TV stand and carpet. Like he lifted his leg and aimed. This made me think he's marking

Im 9 months pregnant and will admit we haven't been able to take him on very many long walks like we used to. It hast been under 30 degrees here and rainy the last week. Don't get me wrong before the weather got crazy my boyfriend was taking him 3-4 times a week to the park to play with his dog friend. Off the leash for hours at a time.

We do take him on short walks but the last time I did I started cramping and literally thought I was going in to pre term labor. As soon as I have the baby I plan on getting back to taking him on a walk regularly.

Everyone keeps telling me to get rid of him because its going to be too much with a newborn. I don't want to get rid of my dog. I didn't get him to get rid of him when things got crazy. I got him in a very low point in my life. I was very lonely and needed something or someone. He was the last of his litter at the pound and was so sad until he saw me and immediately he got happy, as did I. So we def. share a bond as cheesy as it sounds. I feel guilty about him not having a backyard but he will eventually. Within the next year. I really so believe though he's be happier with us in a apartment then with anyone else with a backyard.

Even when we go to friends house and put him in the backyard to play with the other dogs he sits at the door and whines till we let him in.. He wouldn't make a good outside dog at all. But I do want to get him a backyard very soon!

I need some advice on what to do about the peeing though.. my boyfriend is getting very fed up and I'm afraid he's going to be e next to say we need to get rid of him. Im willing to try anything. Thanks for taking time to read this!

He certainly has experienced a lot of changes in his young life! It sounds like he might be thinking the crate is a punishment when, in reality, it should be his special and safe place, his den. Also, has he been neutered yet?

Yes he has been though a lot of changes and I really think that's what it is. We've tried to make his crate a safe place lots of toys blankets and pillows. Its not like he hates it. He will go in there when its open. He just hated being locked in there. Or by himself for that matter. No he hasn't been neutered. I called several places today to check prices. I heard this could help. Thanks you for your response!

While you're waiting for some help, read some of the threads that sound similar to yours. We've had a number of questions very much like yours -- about changes and the crate problems and peeing inappropriately, especially when the pup has experienced changes in his living situation.

Are you going to be able to give adequate time to this dog (lots of walks especially) with a new baby? I'll pray yours will be like my second one (definitely not like my first!) -- who slept a lot and smiled all the time when he was awake.

If you can get these problems straightened out now, I'm hoping things will go well for you once the baby arrives.

I def. plan on being able to devote a lot of time to him once the baby is here. And I'm hoping to get one like your second lol. I have 5 weeks left before the baby is due so I really am trying to do everything I can to make this as smooth as possible
