I want to ask DIY bathroom remodeling building questions
I have a steam shower that's over 40 years old. Everything works great but the shower drain pan is cracked from the wall to the drain. How do I replace the drain pan without damaging the walls? The walls are a Marlite marble looking plastic.

Can I tile over the walls in the shower?

The Marlite surface is to smooth for installing tile over.

Remove Marlite and substrait if not Wonderboard or a similar product. This would be water resistant.

If it is a concrete board then remove about a foot from bottom so the pan can be replaced.

Reinstall concrete board and tile area.

What material is the shower drain pan?

What material(s) is the shower floor made of?

    Is the shower floor tiled?

Is this a molded shower floor?

    Let us know...
