I posted this in a similar thread...

First of all spell it correctly - surrogate.

Secondly, please be sure you are emotionally as well as physically ready. Surrogacy is hard. You will carry a child that often times is not yours (gestational surrogacy) and will then give it away immediately. You will not nurse, you will most likely not hold it for more than a few minutes, and very rarely will you see the child again.

You will need to find a organization that handles surrogacy. They will put you through a series of interviews, and medical tests. You will see a psychiatrist, and will really look at your history and family history. Then you will be placed in a waiting list in hopes that you will be chosen as a possible surrogate by the company. Once you are chosen by the company, you will go in a pool, where possible parents can select you. Some will want to use your eggs, and then the medical and family history will come into play, some will want to use their own embryos and have them implanted.

If you are selected, you will be at the whim of the expectant parents. They will come to the doctor appointments, to the ultrasound, everything. If the mother doesn't want you to eat or drink something, you don't do it. They are paying your medical expenses and most likely you, you are their employee, and you must do as they want. This is often the hardest part.

I can't even explain how difficult it is to do this. It is wonderful making someone's life happier, but it is so hard on you. Please do a lot of research and make sure you are well prepared for the task ahead before making a decision. I can't urge a counselor more, also make sure you have a good support system.
