    BIO father wants 2 step in, after 8 years!
    I was with a guy, we had a baby. He ended up being an abusive DRUNK! I was able to get a restraining order on him. He FOUGHT to keep our son off the order. So I kept him off, thinking he would file for visitation through the courts. He never did! NOW, after EIGHT years, he's trying to see my son! My son has been raised with a dad! I had since gotten back w/my ex husband, and he has fathered my son, thinks of him as HIS son! And now, I am asked to let the bio dad see my boy! My son has battled insecurities and depression issues. We have overcome those! And NOW, if my son found out his dad wasn't his REAL dad, and that he had a bio dad out there, that never TRIED to see him, never tried to help RAISE him... it would mess him up, mentally! Am I in the wrong for trying to protect my son from this DRUNK DAD, that thinks that NOW, he would like to see his offspring?

    No you are not wrong for trying to protect your son. Yotu may be wrong for keeping the details of his parentage from him, I'm assuming your son is 8 which may be old enough to be told about his bio father. I would enlist the aid of his therapist to determine that.

    But, the father has rights too. You can go to court and try to prove that he should not be allowed to see his son, but that may be difficult. It is likely that he will be awarded visitation, probably supervised at first.
