    Three phase 480V
We have a 208V Three phase panel at work. It is fed through a 480 V panel with a step down transformer.

In the 208 panel I read 208 V between each phase. I read 120V to neutral on each.
When I measure each phase to ground, the center phase reads 50-70 volts! The outer ones still read 120V. What's going on?

    Thanks

Okay, are you having a problem or are you questioning the voltages you are reading?

A 208 Vac, three phase is nothing more that 120 separation of phases.

You had a bad test point for that phase.

My I ask why you are checking this, and what your position is at this place?

480v 3 phase to 240 single phase [ 1 Answers ]

I'm wiring up 3 motors that are 240v single phase. The closest power is a 480v 3 phase panel. Am I able to convert the 480 3 phase into 240v single phase? Preferably without using a transformer? Would I be able to just use 2 of the 3 legs of a breaker on the 3 phase panel?

Single phase phase separation for rotary phase converter [ 5 Answers ]

I have a 240V Roto-Phase converter (ARCO Electric model M) in my shop installed by an electrician. A wire came loose last week and while debugging that I started thinking about the way it was wired and confused myself. My understanding of 3 phase power is that each leg is 120 degrees out of phase...
