Is it possible to overdose on an over the counter sleeping pill. Like Sominex.
Is it possible to overdose on Sominex. I have taken 4 in 8 hours and still cannot sleep. I don't want to overdo it but really need sleep.

You can overdose to the point where they will actually keep you awake.

Thank you. I have not been feeling well and have only had about 20 hours total sleep in 8 days.

In that case, you need to see your doctor.

I take atenolol and have a slow heart rate anyway and lately has been very slow. Resting rate between 34-39. Doctor is adjusting that medicine but I think the lack of sleep is nervousness. My normal rate though is 45-50

With a heart rate that low, you need to stop taking atenolol altogether. If you have high blood pressure there are many other medications to take. Beta blockers such as this tend to cause a low heart rate.

I did find the same advice on the Mayo Clinic site. I have had open heart surgery which is why they prescribed it. Have been on it almost 5 years and only recently has this problem happened. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me.
