    One time Names
As anyone else noticed how often people choose names that describe their current problem, rather then themselves. While there is nothing wrong or prohibited about it, it doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Two current examples are "childintrouble" and "scared_and_confused".

Are these people going to create a new account with their next problem?

My guess is that they are just not thinking that far ahead. I can't blame them. Their current problem is all that's on their mind at the moment. If they start frequenting this site, they might want to change there names.

And will they regret chosing these names when their problem is resolved?

    Good one J9,

Yes, I find that a bit odd myself that they chose names of their current problem.

At the same time these people that do that are usually the members that come one day and are gone for good the next.

They are not long time members or plan to be. They want immediate advice and sometimes do not even stick around long enough to get it.

I picked my screen name by what I was going through at the moment. That is how I found this site. I needed help. I am glad I found this site. I am now addicted to it.
I don't plan on changing it.

    How about a new member,

This is the name - pornstar.

Asking help for her boyfriend saying that he does not deserve her.

Mmmm I wonder how the name pornstar name came up.

Does the system delete screen names after some period of non use, esp if they only posted once or twice?

Yeah, I have noticed it, plenty of them in the Home and Garden forums. I still keep an eye on many of them even though I leave most of the questions now to newer members that know more than I do. I wish others would too.

If somebody figures they will have forgotten the name they used the last time and may as well use a new name for each question, OK I guess. I would wait until somebody suspects abuse before I would expect the moderators to track down IP numbers.

I don't have trouble remembering who I am, I have used labman on every site I ever registered on.

I have only been on since March, but like I said, I am ADDICTED - anyway -
It is frustrating when you read a post and then the person never comes back to tell you what happened or how they are.
I get interested and then NOTHING.

Your name is more generic and can be applied to a lot of situations. But you illustrate a point. Many people do come here for a problem and find this addictive. They then are either stuck with the name or they have to create a new one and lose some continuity.

My guess is a lot of people drop into this site looking for an answer to a single question and don't really expect to ever come back once they have a clear answer, I would hope that screen names that don't have any activity after several months would be deleted though.

Like most of you, I don't have a problem with 'usser names' or with the fact that they only post once or twice but it would be nice to know if we had been helpful, especially on the more serious questions asking for help.

I hadn't really given that much thought, ScottGem, but I will notice it more now, interesting observation. I just thought that it didn't show much imagination.

I hate being tickled, but not to so much on the bottoms of my feet, that doesn't bother me.

Got to agree with this -- some of our answers are easy so who cares but some take a lot of research on our parts and it would be nice to know if we solved the problem - Savage

I have noticed something odd about our "names" - if someone has a different kind of screen name and they ask a question -
I have noticed that some will say "well look at what your screen name is - it suggests this about you"
    Has anyone else noticed that?

    For instanced,

    My username Jesushelper76,

There are many that come and go and assume that I am going to be judgemental or that we always have to talk about God.

I am always judged because of the username even had a poster tell me that this name makes him very uncomfortable and how I am weird and so forth. This person is not here anymore but the guy was assuming a lot and making lots of judgements.

Well in all the websites I have been. I have used the same username always does not mean I want to debate somebody about their beliefs. Lol Unless somebody wants one lol

    Jesushelper76,
From the posts Ive read by you, you seem to be a gentle non-judgmental soul.

That being said -- your name does make folks that follow other paths wonder till they read a few of your posts -- Savage
