Should I be worried about my missed period?
Hi! I have a question regarding a missed period. Last month I started my period on Sunday, the next day I was extremely ill with tonislitis and glanduar fever (fever was very high) and my period disappeared. It came back 3 days later and went on as normal.

Since then, I had a blood test confirming it was infectious mono. I have been on different antiobiotcs over the last 4 weeks. My period was due this week and already 3 days late. I am off the pill however me and my boyfriend have used condoms every time. I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative. The day my period was due, I touched my cervix with my finger and found a pink tint mucus but no period started. I'm stressing this may be pregnancy because I don't want that.

Should I be worried or is it possible my missed period is because of my illness and meds I have taken? (Seeing as my last period was a little messed up). I'm usually pretty regular with periods.

The antibiotic and the mono you took for it probably threw your periods askew. Chances are your period will come in the next few days.

If it does come in ten or more days then you should take a home pregnancy test. Antibiotics have a habit of compromising hormonal birthcontrol and allowing ovulation and implantation to occur. As well Condoms can fail. They're reasonably reliable, but can fail and fail in a way you wouldn't know. That is why I suggest waiting for your period, it could be that a perfect storm of chance, manufacturing defects, medications, and friskyness could have caused a pregnancy.

Seems outlandish? There are a few people on this site who have gotten pregnant using three forms of birthcontrol correctly. There is always a possibility.

I have to agree with Craven. I would also like to add that you should STOP trying to touch your cervix. This should be done only by a trained individual. The cervix is highly vascular and if done incorrectly can cause some spotting or even infection.
