No, if you've never attempted this before, you probably shouldn't do this on your own.
Yes, there are 'tricks' involved. Best left to the professionals.
    Watch them one time...

I have done it but don't recommend for the average person. You will need to buy tools to cut the old sealant so the windshield can be removed. Then you need to remove all the old sealant, install new sealant and hope you get the windshield aligned. Don't do it in cold weather without adequate heat. Do you have comprehensive insurance? It should cover a broken windshield.

No, unless you are very skilled and have the right tools and most importantly have the correct, modern, installation procedures available to you.
But first, is there any possibility that the windshield can be repaired rather than getting into the critical job of replacement? Dings around quarter size (maybe bigger nowadays) and cracks the length of a dollar can usually be repaired and often the insurance will pay for repairs with no deductible.
Windshields are a key structural component especially in rollovers, and are a key ingredient in proper airbag deployment.
And finally, if you use a repair shop, do everything you can to ensure that they follow the specific procedures, which many do not do, as indicated in this 20/20 report:

You pretty much have to know the procedure yourself and watch them which is probably easiest by having them come to your driveway and do the replacement, which most will do.
