    Miscarriage
Hello I had a miscarriage last weekend. I was 6 weeks pregnant. I had to take cytotec vaginally last Friday night and passed everything Saturday morning. This was per my ultra sound we had this past Monday. The doctor says to wait 3 weeks to have sex and 3 months for us to try again. Would it be bad if we didn't wait?

    Yes.

You're doctor told you to wait. Please listen to your doctor and not Yahoo on the internet who has no medical background whatsoever.

What has happened is that you've had a MAJOR shock to your system and more importantly your reproductive tract. Waiting to have sex is to make sure that everything is buttoned up and in place. You had to violently pass all the contents of your uterus in a morning. It ripened your cervix and pushed everything out. The three weeks is to allow for your cervix to close up again. Having sex during that time frame could introduce infection in your uterus that might have been caught my the cervix.

The Waiting to try to get pregnant is to allow everything to get back in shape and get everything moving in the right way.

Please listen to your doctor and wait.

Of course it would be bad or your doctor wouldn't have told you to wait. We don't just tell our patients this sort of information just for the heck of it.

You have to wait to have sex for the cervix to close otherwise you risk getting a very serious and life threatening infection.

You need to wait to try again so that your body returns to it's pre-pregnant state in order to have a hopefully healthy pregnancy the next time.

Yup! We told you that in your thread in the Pregnancy & New Mothers forum.

J_9 listed several concise reasons why you SHOULDN'T be putting anything between your legs. You're cervix hasn't closed after your miscarriage. So any surface bacteria on your boyfriends penis has free access to a rich and almost limitless environment to grow. This also has an almost direct access to your blood stream.

Uterine and blood borne infections are REALLY serious and should be taken seriously. This is life threatening stuff.

Go to a doctor and talk to him about what you've done and make sure that you're good. Then DON'T have sex for the next three weeks. Don't have unprotected sex for another two months after that. Listen to your doctor, they know what they're talking about.

Why would you disobey your doctors instructions? Did your boyfriend know that you needed to wait? If not WHY?
