    1979 dodge truck wiring
    Bought 79 dodge truck runs great.but ballast and wires get hot with key on. When running burns out voltage reg. new alt, volt. reg. starter, electronic ign. Mode. New hot and ground cables been over entire truck can't find short any where. When running amp gage goes clear over to c and battery boils but holds 12 v charge . Starts good. Truck is 1979, motor is 1974 318 ci just over hauled and installed 2 years ago. org. motor according to factory sticker was 6 cyl

    These trucks had extensive problem with the charging circuits, in dash ammeters and shorts. You best bet would be to test by-passing the run to the ammeter altogether. Here is a good article regarding this problem:Catalog
