Joint return - can one spouse file 2555 and the other 1116?
Will be filing a joint return for first time this year. Can I file a 2555 to exclude my earned foreign income and have my spouse not exclude his income, yet file form 1116 for FTC on his income?

    Yes, that is allowed.

However, it is also allowed for you to file Form 2555 for BOTH of you, and if either income EXCEEDS the exclusion limit, you can claim the Foreign Tax Credit for taxes assessed on the excess.

You MAY want to get professional tax help for your return if BOTH forms are used.
