    How much time is required to file a lawsuit for malpractice
    Had bad surgery ten years ago resulting in a bypass and went from taking one pill a day to twenty two and health has been declining ever since

    There are so many lawyers that do free consults. I would talk to them first.

    First Any question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area. You can see this from the list Joy linked to. But based on that list, unless you are in Missouri, North Carolina or Virginia, the statute of limitations is less than 10 years. Even in those states, you still might not be able to sue.

    Also based on what little you told us, there is nothing sure that the doctor committed malpractice.

    Agreed. Medical malpractice is no slam-dunk anywhere. You definitely need an attorney who knows a lot about medical malpractice litigation.
