I have a Neff dishwasher,Water gets lukewarm after 2-3 hrs, runs for up to 6hrs
I noticed that the dish washer was running for a long time. Tried it during the day and it took at least 6 hrs at 50c. Water is cold for a couple of hrs then heats to lukewarm. Does not seem to rinse - water is still soapy after 3 hrs but when it stops all the water has gone. In my test it started rinsing after 4 hrs but water was cold again. Checked all the filters and they were in a bad state, covered in a white jelly like substance, cleaned and put back. Have also checked that the water pump impeller is not fouled. I don't know what else to do.

Is this likely to be the thermostat? The e nr number is S5453XIGB/56

You need to check the thermostat and the heating element with a meter. Turn off power and check these with an ohm meter. Here is a manual: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...e%20Manual.pdf

I did phone them and was advised to not consider opening the dishwasher, possibly because I am a woman? Anyway the person said they would email some stuff but nothing arrived. I really need to know where the thermostat and instant water heater is and some advice to get to it.

    Thanks,

    LIN

Nobody here works on the NEFF dishwashers (not super common here in USA), so we can't help any more than we have.

Call NEFF back and wait online with them until the specification sheet arrives in your inbox.

There are several videos on fixing these dishwashers, such as this one on YouTube: How to fix Neff Dishwasher - YouTube
Look at these and others and you should be able to see how to fix it. It's not that hard to do.
