This guy and I texted for a week or so and then the next week out of the blue he texted me asking if I wanted to hang out. I said yes because I thought he was cute even though I've heard he was a player.

While we were hanging out we kissed. That sounds like he likes me right? Well the next day he tells me it wasn't for real and that he still wants to be friends.

Should I stay friends with him?

One kiss doesn't mean anything.

It doesn't mean he wants to date you, and it doesn't mean he's a jerk, or a player. Gossip is a nasty thing if you believe he's a player, simply because somebody else said so.

After texting a week, and one date that didn't work out, if you think he's good friend material otherwise, then be friends and see what happens. It's not like you've invested much time in getting to know him.

I stand by what I said earlier. If the next day he really said "it wasn't for real" then I think he was just looking to get more out of her and when he didn't, that was the end of it. Just because it is what many boys do doesn't make it right. I still say he's a jerk.

My take is you should NOT be friends because anything he does will get you excited and think he likes you, and you will always be afraid he is leading you on.
