I am a 66 year old retired grandmother who, after about 33 years, continues to use NON-synthetic HRTs. A few weeks ago, I was frightened to find about seven small randomly positioned dark spots, like freckles or moles, on my inner vaginal lips while examining myself with a mirror for an itchy discharge. I asked my husband if he had ever seen dark spots there and he said yes, he'd seen two or three quite a while back and thought they were something like blood blisters. He had not wanted to scare me at the time and said nothing to me, but was surprised to find that I had several more spots than before. Assuming a yeast infection for the itchy discharge, the one-day insertion of an over-the-counter vaginal cream seemed successful. However, several days later, I began spotting and casually mentioned the spotting to my GYN doctor while there on visit re: HRTs. She asked me to return the following week for an ultrasound. The exam (no mention by either of us of freckle-mole spots) and ultrasound reflected a couple of dark areas she likened to a large and a small “pool” -- which she noted to be cysts as well as thickened uterine walls. She immediately did multiple biopsies and I am to visit in about a week to get a determination. I'm itching again with a "light period" and spotting and concerned. Any ideas if singular or combination of above descriptions of symptoms mean I am rightfully worried? Thank you, “A.”
