We have red clay that keeps oozing from underneath the commode on the floor
WE have red clay keep oozing from underneath the commode on the floor. Our house is built on a slab and we keep wiping red clay that oozes from under the commode in the shape of a hill shape as if it was an ant hill but no ants. We have been in this house for about 7 years and this has been going on now for the last 6-9 months. IS this a plumbing issue or problems with the slab?

Could be both. Water is leaking from the toilet during a flush and softens the dirt letting the floor settle and it squishes the dirt out. I would suspect a bad wax ring or possibly a cracked flange or drain but you need to pull the toilet. Could be a floor crack in conjunction with above noted conditions.

Commode floor flange [ 2 Answers ]

R & R commodes several times and already know all the tricks and pitfalls, but today I hit a new one. When I took up the commode to see why it rocks, the floor flange came too!!
