    Need to gain weight
    Hi everyone.
I'm a 19 yr old female. I'm 5ft tall and weigh 40kg. I am very thin and desperately need to add weight. Not just muscle or fat. I need both but more fat than muscle because I'm a female. I tried getting on a 2000 or 2500 calorie diet per day but it's so difficult as combining the calories I take in a day won't sum up to 2000. I need a very high calorie weight gain supplement to help me with the diet. I'm thinking of getting on's pro complex gainer. But I Don't know if a lady could use that. Please does anyone know any very high calorie drink supplement and which is not expensive. And please I Don't want to use whey protein because it contains protein from pork which I can't take for some reasons . Thanks

40 kg (88 lbs) and 5' tall just isn't skinny.
When I was 19, I weighed 95 lbs and was 5'2. I am now fat, years later.
    Don't buy expensive products.
Just eat normally, but healthily. If you can prepare meals in bulk and put them in small containers, eat them every 3 hours, 5 times a day - 5 small meals that don't make you feel like you are over full.
It's important to combine the food groups each time you eat, rather than having hi-carb snacks all alone and then protein all alone. That's a good reason to do a lot of cooking once a week and save in small portions. Don't skimp on vegetables. Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, squashes - higher carbs. Don't think in terms of protein and fat. Think carbs.

OK, I looked up a chart and you are in the lowest percentile for your age.
Have you ever had a thorough checkup by a doctor? A metabolism test? Where in the world do you live? Are your family thin? Could you have a food allergy? A parasite?

What is a typical day's food for you?

Yh. Hi. I don't have a fast metabolism. And no form of illness. My appetite has always been poor for some years now which I didn't really realize until now a doctor prescribed a multivitamin. And now I eat normally and need to add weight but I can't meet up with the amount of calories I need to add weight that is why I need a gain weigh supplement high in calorie and healthy for women. Non of my family members is as thin as I am. I have the ability to gain weight but I don't know any helpful supplement.

You asked for 'not expensive.' All diet supplements are a waste of money. You could try a few cans of Ensure, which is for the elderly who can't chew, and people who had dental surgery, etc. But chewing is vital to digestion in general, so Ensure is just a convenient drink-food for when you are on the go.

It's going to take time to rebuild your entire metabolism after years of vitamin deficiency. And I'll say it again: it isn't calories that are going to do the job, but a well rounded diet.

You really should do some major cooking once a week, to eat the whole week. If a 'drink' makes you happy, make one out of whole milk yogurt, wheat germ, tofu, and fruit. Be sure to get 2-3 tablespoons of good fresh vegetable oil a day, olive or peanut or canola or safflower. The rest is whole grains, beans, chicken and fish, eggs, and vegetables and fruit.

    PLEASE stop talking about calories.
It is not the same at all as trying to lose weight.
