    Violated probation, help!
I am 22 years old and I was arrested my very first time ever for possession of class A & receiving stolen motor vehicle. I was put on 18 months probation with drug testing& the stolen motor vehicle was dropped, also I am to pay $450 restitution that I haven't paid, well I went for my first meeting with my p.o. & before she even tested me I told her I was dirty, she told me to go to detox & surrendered me. I went to detox but didn't complete and never checked back in with my p.o. Because I am terrified that I will be sent to jail. I now have a warrant that I've had for 3 months now, I am now sober and doing really well I haven't used in 2 months and I have no desire to use at all! I am so happy, happier than I've ever been in my life. I want to turn myself in but I am so scared! Please somebody tell me what will most likely happen when I do?

You will go to jail... but then... if you turn yourself in... they throw the book at you (an average sized one)... if they have to chase you down to catch you... they throw the Websters Unabridged dictionary at you. (if you haven't seen one... its REALLY big).

Do everyone a favor.. hire a lawyer... and have them negotiate your voluntary surrender. That's the best deal you will get.

Wow really just like that I have to go to jail? This happened when I was 20 years old & I have never been in any other trouble in my life. I have always been an honor roll student & I just signed up for college classes that I will be starting in November. You think the judge will take me out of school while I'm clean and doing so well to put me in jail?

That's why you hire a lawyer.

Honor roll means squat... first rule is the world doesn't revolve around you. Having college means as little as having a wife and 5 kids to support.. neither of them mean anything, lots of fathers and others in prison... Being enrolled for college means nothing.

    Welcome to the real world.

Break the law... you pay the price. As suggested... hire a lawyer... have them negotiate a surrender... that's the best deal you are going to have a chance to get...

Warrants don't expire... ever. And they will get you... and the longer it takes... the more its going to impact your life. Get it over with now.

Incidentally... you was a one time offender when you first got busted... you are now a two time offender.

I'm surprised they haven't woken you up in the morning and snatched you right from bed.

Everyone here is right, the court won't care that you're in school and doing better. It would have been better if you showed this change during your probation. Call your lawyer, private or PD, and let them know what is going on. The longer you let that warrant age, the worse it'll be for you.

Turn yourself in; with any luck, they'll let you see the judge the same day and it won't be too bad. Make sure you're still attending any drug classes you might have been made to attend and start putting some money towards the restitution.

You don't want to lose any deal you might have made with the court, if you successfully finished probation.

I will agree, you need to hire an attorney and arrange to turn yourself in.

If not, it will not be a nice arrest like you see on TV normally,

But you will be put in jail and held for one to three week pending a hearing with a judge.

But let me see, how many violations are there ?
    1. not paying the 450
    2. not completing the Detox program
    3. failure to report to PO ( on going)

Probation time froze the minute they issued the warrant. The warrant will last as long as you llive normally, so one day perhaps driving to work, you go to jail and lose job?

What you did before crime mean nothing, how your life changed since you did not report, may help, but the fact you still do not report, merely makes you look worst.

I would guess, yes, there will be jail time, but not as much if you turn yourself in, if you wait to be caught, they will give you more jail time normally
