Monitor starting late ( XP Home)
    Hi All

When switching on - the HT to the monitor is not coming through until the 'Welcome to Windows' screen.

Not sure how long this has been going on as I uswually make a cup of coffee while start up is going on.

At the moment it is not a problem but if I need to reboot or such at some time I will not be able to hit the F8 F10 etc at the 'blue' screen.

    Any ideas??

    Resolution
Hmm I'm thinking maybe the monitor doesn't support the different resolution that is outputted from the computer when starting up... are all the proper and updated drivers installed?

Monitor starting late ( XP Home )
    Hi Zwarty

Sorry for delay - Had a Radeon 9250 fitted a while back due to concelation of updates for 810e chip (video onboard) causing constant crashes from graphic driver error. The drivers for this are installed - but so is the original driver for the 810e - have been informed that this shouldn't make any difference.

I am using the original monitor port as not getting anything from V/card ports.
On Desktop/properties/settings - Screen 2 is active but Screens 1 & 3 show up as inactive when mouse passed over them.

In the details below it shows :-

1 Default Monitor on Radeon 9250 etc
    2 hp pavilion... 82810E etc
3 (Default Monitor) on Radeon 9200 Family etc

I presumably have to activate the Radeon ports as the card itself appears to be installed OK (recognised at PCpitstop) and hadno further problems of Graphics Driver crashes.

    Any Ideas??

Hmm yeah it seems that the Radeon ports need to be activated, but otherwise I'm not really sure to what the solution would be here...

Perhaps Ask Me Help Desk's user Press2Esc or any others can give us a suggestion...

    Second Monitor problem
It sounds like your system is configured for three monitors and you are using monitor no 2 (1 and 3 are on the Radeon). I don't have two graphics cards so I'm not sure but can you change the order of the monitors. If so switch 1 and 2 around - this will change the primary monitor to be the onboard graphics card (as you are plugged into this one).

The reason for the delay in the screen appearing is likely to be the additional monitors - only the Windows GUI supports multiple monitors so you won't see the system boot.

Sorry I can't be more specific as I don't have a system like this to check!

Monitor starting late (XP Home )
Thanks for all the suggestions - as it now looks as if the problem is with the video card I'll do a Google check and have a good look around and post under a clearer thread if and when I find anything.

    Thanks again for the help
