You thinking about getting one? Dogs are like people and have their own personalities. I love Pits. German shepards are decent dogs but all the ones I know bark a lot.

Looks and personalities could vary widely, we have a chow/shepherd mix who started looking identical to a chow but ended up looking like a short eared red shepherd with a curly tail.
His behavior will depend primarily on your training and socialization skills.

If you're getting a purebred Pit Bull or German Shepherd from a legitimate breeder, the looks should be as per breed standard. That's very easy to look up, just Google the breed and hit images. If it's a mixed breed from a backyard breeder, you end up with whatever you get, there's no way to determine what the dog will look like when it's grown.

As for personality, like people, dogs each have their own personality. There are traits that certain breeds have, so it really depends on what you're looking for, but personality, that will be individual to the dog.

But I always like getting to know the dog and its personality for a couple days or so before choosing a name.

My new dog Athena is a wrotty mix, that's all I know. But She has a different body structure than a wrotty, is fairly small and instead of the beigish color on her tummy and legs, its more of a redish beige, kind of like a doberman.
