    Touch of Venus
I recalled vividly some scenes of a musical filmed in color starring someone like Donald O'Connor as a store clerk who activate a greek statue (perhaps by kissing it, although I don't remember). There is a b&w film called "One Touch of Venus" that has a similar story.

However, the film I am trying to find the title of was in color. It had many outdoors scenes that make me think that this was in New York. The songs, storyline, and acting were better than the One Touch of Venus.

Yet, I cannot find a record of it via a web search. It was as if it never existed. I saw this movie twice in my life, and it was during the times of TV antenna (no cable) and one of the local TV stations played it as part of their regular afternoon's movies during the weekends. If I had to guess, the film was made in the 1950's given the clothing and the cars. It had very young people, kind of like a Beach Bingo Party vibe although with better dance numbers.

It was funny, romantic, and a little heart-breaking. I remembered the ending when the goddess became a statue again, then the store clerk looked over the balcony and saw a girl walking on the sidewalk looking very similar to the goddess and then ran down to her and introduced himself.

The actor who was the store clerk was a short, likable guy similar to Donald O'Connor. Unlike the main character from "One Touch of Venus" who acted like a jerk for most of the movie and one couldn't figure why a knock-out goddess would give him the time of day, the film I am thinking of had the audience sympathize with the guy and rooting for him.

    Have anyone seen this movie?

    Thank-you, MystMoonstruck.

I am not sure if this is the right one as it seemed to be a B&W. However, with it being a TV movie that may explain why it is not listed in most filmology of the story. Since I am from Texas and the 1955 version you found was filmed in Dallas, that may explain how I got to see it as a child from a local TV station. And since it included a lot more songs than the Ava Gardner's version, that may explain my memory of it being better than the Hollywood's version.

Perhaps, this B&W film got colorized by Mr. Turner, and I ended up recalling that version? Not sure why I felt the story was placed in NY as Dallas didn't have that many skyscrapers at the time. Could be that they spliced some NY footage in?

Too bad that there isn't some pictures of this TV production on the web for me to look at in order to be sure.

It's the only other version I found after checking several sites. I suppose it depended on whether the stations broadcasted in color or b&w. If I find anymore information, I'll add it.
