    Vitex and Pregnancy
My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 5 months. In January I got off birth control after being on it for 15 years. I am currently 35 years old. After stopping the birth control I had the regular hormone withdrawal bleeding in January then I didn't have another period until March 22nd. When we really started trying I started to get worried about not having a period. My doctor did not seem to concerned, although this lack of concern was not based on blood tests or anything scientific. I started taking 800 mg of Vitex in July. On August 7th I had my first period it was a long period maybe like 7 days, when I was on the pill I had like 3-4 day periods. I started to get worried about whether I am ovulating so I bought the Clear blue easy advanced digital tests. My tests showed high fertility but I never received a peak. So I am assuming my estrogen spikes but no lh surge. So this month I bought more tests again high fertility but no lh surge and now I am experiencing mid cycle spotting or a new cycle. I am wondering if I should discontinue the vitex? Why do I keep having the estrogen spike but no lh surge? Is my body still adjusting to being off birth control?

Discontinue the Vitex. You are wasting your money. Start taking prenatal vitamins instead. You can get them over-the-counter.

You need to go back to your doctor and have your LH tested.

Also, understand that it takes most healthy couples up to a year or more, in some cases, of actively trying before conception occurs.
