Females come into season about every 6 months going a little longer if they have a litter. They can only be impregnated 9-14 days after the discharge starts. The will not accept a male at any other time. It is amazing how many people are keeping an intact female ,likely for breeding, and are asking very basic questions suggesting they haven't done any research.

Unfortunately may other people are not so careful. Time after time I have told people to spay/neuter a dog with a behavior problem, and they insist they are going to breed it.
One sure way to make sure you dog never passes on his defect is to neuter him.
