    Air conditioning
Hello, I have a question about air conditioning and relatedly heating

I have a window A/C, not central heating, RCA brand

It has 2 dials, first dial is thermostat which ranges from 1-10(which is the subject of the question)

Second dial is operation which reads low fan, med fan, high fan, off, hi cool, med cool, low cool which I already understand

When I turn my thermostat up, the coolant turns off after a certain time frame, with it taking longer to turn off with a higher thermostat number

The question is, if I turn my thermostat up to 6, or 8, or 10, does each higher number make the cold air even colder, or does it merely send out the same level of cold air as if it were at 3, but for a longer time depending on how high the thermostat is set to

I think the A/C only has 2 settings, off, or on, and only the time limit matters on how cool the room will become, am I right or wrong?

    Yes.

    Right.

First dial is temperature setting of thermostat.

Second dial, fan setting of Hi, Med and Lo should be fan only, no cooling. Hi Med and Lo Cooling is fan speed with cooling (compressor running). Compressor runs at same speed all the time when running.

The lower the temperature setting of the thermostat, which is probably the higher the number on the dial, the longer it takes to get the room down to that temperature.

The lower the fan speed, the colder the air coming out will be but also the longer it will take to get the room down to temperature because it takes longer to circulate all the air in the room.
