Two year old ate edible candles, will she be okay?
My two year old just ate some of one of those edible heart candles u get at lovers package. Does anyone know just how edible they really are? Is my kid in any danger or going to get sick?

Honestly, if I were you, I would contact poison control. They will be able to provide you with information right on the spot.

Trust me. I have them on speed dial.

I agree with Enigma. But, I would also say that if the package says they're edible, they wouldn't risk poisoning anyone. If they're made to be eaten, they're probably safe, even if they do taste like crap. ;)

But better safe than sorry. Calling poison control is never a bad idea when you're dealing with a child.

Thanks. Yeah I called lovers and they wouldn't tell me what's in it or anything about it except just to watch them for the next day or two. Idk if they just didn't know or didn't want to tell me.

I wouldn't rely on the store that sold the product. Most of the employees won't know what's in the products they sell, and they definitely won't know if any of them are hazardous. It's best to call poison control, have the product info handy so you can read them the ingredients. They'll know. Lovers won't.

Enigma is an expert in the Health and wellbeing forum, that's the forum she answers the most in, and she's shown her expertise in that forum, which is why she was granted an expert title in that forum. The way this site works, you can really only be named an expert in one forum. In other words, you can be an expert in other areas, but you can only be a named expert in one.

Like everyone, Enigma has knowledge and expertise in more than just the health and wellbeing forum. We all do. I'm sure that you aren't only an expert in one area, but know about other areas as well. :)

And next to your name it says you're a pet expert:) I guess I'm still newer to all this.. well I called them to find out the name of them because there's not really a name or brand of the candle on it but they didn't know the name of it! Or again, they just didn't want to tell me...

LOL! Yes, I am the Pets expert on this site. I'm also a woodworker, an oil painter, I have 2 kids, I worked as an insurance underwriter for many years, and more. I'm more than qualified to answer your question, as is Enigma. :)

Are there a list of ingredients on the box? There should be. By law they have to list the ingredients, especially if they're claiming that this item is edible.

If you tell me your general area (State, Province, or country), I can list the number for poison control where you live. I really would recommend giving them a call. It should be free, but this is an international site, so it can depend on where you live.

I'd call poison control as Alty suggested. It's better to be safe than sorry.

LOL Yes, I have three little ones. Since we're all getting to know one another, I am pursuing a Masters degree in psychology, and I too am a painter. Not oil, acrylics.

Alty, I want to see some of your work. I didn't know you painted.

Gosh, I'm boring. I am a Kinder teacher for as long as they let me. I love to cook, bake, and garden. I have two adult sons, but they are still my kids. Right now, we are watching our Beagle puppy grow and change by the minute. Alty said they change a lot and she wasn't kidding. She was black with some brown and a touch of white. Now, she's brown with some black and white.

And sorry. I live in tacoma Washington. I suppose it would be too much trouble to ask u to call for me and find out what they say... my daughter hasn't been acting weird or showing signs of gagging or feelling nausea or anything I've been giving her lots of water her and her brother are eating dinner right now.. I guess I've missed a lot of what u guys have talked about before I started coming on here lol

I would call, but I'm in Canada, for me it would be a long distance call, and I would be charged. I really can't afford to do that. :(

Here's a link, it gives two numbers:

    Don't be afraid to call.
