2 1/2 month old golden retriver puppy won't eat
    Hi

    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Can someone help- I have just got a 2 1/2 month old golden retriver puppy- I have had her for a week and yesterday she was ill- with very bad diahorria like water. I took her to the vet and her tempreator was ok- but he gave her some medical to ease her stomach. She slept most off yesterday but did eat some chicken last night and again at 7 this morning.
I have tried to give her more chicken and her dry puppy food but she will not eat and still has diahorria.
What should I do now- do I keep trying with the dry food and boiled chicken or should I take her back to the vet.
She is playing when she is up and drinking lots off water just no food.
If anyone could help it would really help me- as I look at her little face and feel awful--

If she is 2 1/2 you need to soften her dry food with water or something like that. What was she eating before you got her? If you changed her diet drastically that could be making her sick.

I would call and talk to the vet. The vet may say to give the medicine another day or 2 to work, or to bring her back in. Do you know what kind of medicine the vet gave her? Was it an antibiotic or something such as Imodium for controlling diarrhea?

Although there is a bland, recovery diet in the ''My dog won't eat.'' sticky, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post254171 she is better off if you follow your vet's instructions. Worry more about controlling the diarrhea than her eating. She should do OK not eating a day or 2, and as long as she has the diarrhea, eating won't do that much good.

A sudden change of food can cause digestive upsets, but I don't think as bad as you describe.

As she recovers, you should find the ''What does a puppy need?'' and Housebreaking sections of the sticky useful too.
